OTEC welcomes its newest Board member, Dr. Statia Elliot, who brings years of experience and talent within the hospitality and tourism industry. Dr. Elliot was elected as an OTEC Director at the OTEC AGM held on November 8, 2016.

Statia Elliot is Director of the University of Guelph’s School of Hospitality, Food & Tourism Management. Dr. Elliot has extensive experience working within the tourism and hospitality industry and public sector. Her research is focused on tourism marketing, specifically tourism destination image, destination marketing, traveller behaviour and E-tourism. Statia is the author of many publications, and is a Board member for Tourism H.R. Canada and past President of the Travel and Tourism Research Association Canada.
Continuing in the role of Chair is Mr. Nick DiRenzo, FCPA, ICD.D, President, Sun Life Financial Investment Services Inc. Mr. DiRenzo has been a member of the OTEC Board since 2013 and has vast experience within the financial services industry. Mr. Gary Hallam, Executive Dean, School of Business and Hospitality, Conestoga College, will continue for another term as Vice Chair. Mr. Hallam has served on OTEC’s Board since 2013 and provides representation from the college sector. Treasurer, Mr. Doug Hyland, Managing Partner, ROCG Americas, remains for another term.

OTEC also recognizes Mr. Bill Allen, Mr. Sheldon K. Gould and Mr. David Adames, three outgoing members of the Board. Mr. Allen, Mr. Gould and Mr. Adames provided many years of service to OTEC. Thanks to their support and contributions, OTEC has grown into Ontario’s leading tourism, hospitality, healthcare, workforce and service sector training and consulting organization.
