Canadian Academy of Travel & Tourism

The Canadian Academy of Travel & Tourism (CATT) is part of a global effort to introduce and promote careers in the travel and tourism sector. This program offers high school students career-oriented training and education programs while they achieve their high school diploma. This allows students to learn the skills needed for a successful tourism career at an early age, while encouraging them to explore the industry further in post-secondary study. CATT currently operates in over 100 schools across Canada!

  • Haliburton Highlands Secondary School (Haliburton)
  • Gravenhurst High School (Gravenhurst)
  • Huntsville High School (Huntsville)
  • Russell High School (Russell)
  • Pope John Paul II Catholic Secondary School (Scarborough)
  • Laura Secord Secondary School (St. Catharines)
  • Gloucester High School (Gloucester)
  • Lakeshore Collegiate Institute (Etobicoke)
  • Ascension of Our Lord Secondary School (Mississauga)
  • Danforth Collegiate & Technical Institute (Toronto)
  • Sir William Mulock Secondary School (Newmarket)
  • École des adultes Le Carrefour (Ottawa)
  • Peninsula Shores District School (Wiarton)
  • St. John's College (Brantford)
  • Assumption College School (Brantford)

This program is offered to high schools at 3 different levels:

  • Level I: affiliate local
    • Focuses on introducing students to the tourism industry

  • Level II: affiliate provincial
    • Students are more involved in tourism studies

  • Gold CATT graduate
    • Is the most comprehensive and spreads learning and participation requirements over 3 years

Students receive graduation certificates upon fulfilling criteria set out by the learning outcomes of each level. The program assists schools in creating an extensive tourism curriculum and provides opportunities for national and international conferences.
