OTEC Team Announcement From Victoria Behune, President and CEO of OTEC

As OTEC continues to grow and develop our diversified training and consulting services for the workforce development needs of our clients, partners and stakeholders, I am pleased to announce team promotions and new additions.
 
Kim Bocking has been promoted to Manager, Consulting and Partnership Projects. Kim has been with OTEC for 4 years and has gained extensive experience with workforce development and client project management. Kim plays a key role in developing and managing workforce training and consulting projects across Ontario. In particular, Kim manages the partnership and programs between CTHRC (Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council) and OTEC, which includes the Ready-to-Work (RTW) employment preparation project, emerit Training Solutions, and labour market research initiatives. Kim holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from Queen's University as well as a Master of Environmental Studies degree in Tourism Policy and Planning from the University of Waterloo, specializing in community-based tourism planning in the Caribbean. Replacing Geni Humphrey, now on maternity leave, is Janet Morrison, OTEC’s Manager Learning and Development. Janet is an experienced Organization Development Manager and Instructional Designer and is responsible for designing, developing and customizing instructor-led and eLearning training programs. She has over 20 years of experience in the field of Learning and Development working as a trainer, instructional designer and manager in the retail, corporate and manufacturing industries. Boyana Tapia joins OTEC as Manager, Client Relationships. Boyana is a senior consultant with more than twenty years of experience in the corporate and public sectors in a variety of positions providing leadership and strategic counsel on marketing and communications, brand and loyalty program development. At OTEC she is responsible for working with clients to help them identify training opportunities under the Canada-Ontario Job Grant program.  She is also instrumental in helping OTEC expand internationally. Boyana is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University and Ryerson University where she holds degrees in Political Science, Marketing and Business Communications. After 2 years spent working for OTEC as a student and part-time junior instructional designer Kelly Lang joins OTEC as Coordinator, Learning and Development. Kelly replaces Ava Dawn Mair, who will begin maternity leave January 16th. Kelly’s role at OTEC includes coordinating OTEC’s internal and external training programs and materials and bringing service excellence to organizations across Ontario. She also supports the Learning and Development Manager with program development, including researching new training initiatives, customization, and the creation of training materials. Kelly holds a Bachelor of Arts with a focus on Cultural Studies from Ryerson University, as well as a diploma in Special Events Planning from George Brown College. Sophie Gotshal joins OTEC as Coordinator, Client Services and is responsible for supporting the business development team in securing new opportunities and maintaining client relationships.  In addition, Sophie supports workforce development, industry, and partnership projects and coordinates OTEC’s Secondary School portfolio, internal and external training sessions, and emerit certifications.  Sophie is newly back in Canada after working as a boutique hotel supervisor and coordinator of social media. She is a graduate of Ryerson Unviersity’s Bachelor of Commerce program with a specialization in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Sophie can be reached at sgotshal@otec.org.
