OTEC Announces New Board Member: Rebecca Godfrey

OTEC is proud to welcome Rebecca Godfrey to the organization’s Board of Directors.

Rebecca is a Tourism Industry expert and strategic advisor with a unique ability to engage decision-makers and visualize solutions to complex problems based on collaboration with stakeholders, detailed research and analysis, innovation, and strong communication. Rebecca Godfrey works as a Senior Strategic Consultant with Destination Think, where she develops strategies for destination marketing and management organizations at a global level.

She has over 25 years of experience in the tourism and hospitality sector, with 16 years spent directly advising public and private sector clients in strategic planning, destination management, business case development, market and financial feasibility studies, and organizational assessments. Rebecca is a regular advisor to both industry and government on tourism market intelligence. She is also a founding member of the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario’s (TIAO) DEI Working Group, where she is actively involved in helping industry to understand the principles and benefits of incorporating DEI, and building a more inclusive tourism industry.

Prior to Destination Think, Rebecca was a director and co-practice lead with CBRE’s Tourism & Leisure group in Canada, and member of the CBRE Hotels Senior Leadership Team. She joined CBRE in 2015 when the firm acquired PKF Consulting Canada, where she was a Senior Associate.

“Rebecca has worked with not-for-profit, public, and private sector clientele in strategic business planning and investment attraction initiatives related to tourism industry growth. She is a great addition to OTEC’s Board of Directors as our organization takes on more complex, data-driven, labour market and business level challenges and solutions associated with our industry’s recovery”, said Adam Morrison, OTEC’s President/CEO.

Rebecca was awarded her MBA in Hospitality and Tourism Management from the University of Guelph in 2005, and more recently achieved her Certified Management Consultant designation from the Canadian Association of Management Consultants, demonstrating her expertise from both a professional and educational standpoint. Rebecca also volunteered for almost a decade as a docent for the Royal Ontario Museum.
