Newcomer GPS: Exploring an Integrated Digital Pathway to Settlement

Newcomers to Canada face settlement challenges ranging from language to employment barriers.

Enter: CareerAtlas, OTEC’s AI-driven platform configured to help newcomer jobseekers identify skills transferable to Canadian labour markets and discover relevant career training in Canada.

Through OTEC’s innovative research project, Newcomer GPS: Exploring an Integrated Digital Pathway to Settlement, OTEC partners with service provider organizations (SPOs) to offer free access to CareerAtlas for newcomers to Canada. Funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), this research project aims to understand the impact of technology to affect decision-making of newcomers in their journey to settle in Canada. Learn more about the project by reading An Outline of Newcomer GPS: Exploring an Integrated Digital Pathway to Settlement (PDF).

The Newcomer GPS Research project is an IRCC-funded initiative testing the integration of the technology solution, CareerAtlas, with service provider organizations in both pre-arrival and post-arrival services for newcomers.

If your organization supports newcomers settling in Canada, OTEC is still accepting project partners! Partners will receive free access to CareerAtlas, including using CareerAtlas’s Coach Portal to track your client’s engagement on the platform. Additionally, partnering organizations can provide feedback on improving the CareerAtlas experience.
